122 Years of Service
On February 23, 1905, attorney Paul Harris convened a meeting with three friends in a small office in downtown Chicago. What started as a simple desire for fellowship among professionals evolved into a global blueprint for humanitarian service.
Under the leadership of our District Governor, Rtn. Shriram Duvvuri, Rotary International District 3233 celebrates World Rotary Day (World Peace and Understanding Day) on February 23, 2027. This day marks the 122nd anniversary of our foundational movement, honoring our journey from a local networking group to an international force of over 1.4 million neighbors, friends, and leaders.
📊 The Core Legacy We Honor
- Global Peacebuilding: Championing international cooperation, conflict resolution, and the training of global peace fellows.
- The Power of Impact: Directing strategic resources into seven major areas of focus, from disease prevention to community economic development.
- The Final Push Against Polio: Reflecting on the historic success of the PolioPlus program, which has driven global polio cases down by over 99.9% since its inception.
📢 Action Required: Club Project Mobilization
To mark this historic anniversary, District Governor Rtn. Shriram Duvvuri calls upon all Club Presidents, Secretaries, and Board Members to design and execute a dedicated Anniversary Impact Project. Let us celebrate our founding not just with words, but with direct community action.
Recommended Club Actions:
- Legacy Service Projects: Launch a new, long-term community initiative focusing on literacy, water sanitation, or environmental protection on February 23.
- Joint Fellowship & Orientation: Host an open house or a combined club meeting to introduce potential members and new “Green Rotarians” to the deep history and values of the organization.
- Public Image Campaigns: Utilize local media, public banners, and digital platforms to share your club’s milestone achievements and ongoing local service stories.
- Foundation Contributions: Organize a special collection or recognition ceremony for contributions to The Rotary Foundation to empower future global grants.
Note for Leaders: Centralized district reporting portals will be open to document and feature every club’s World Rotary Day project. Further coordination details and promotional material toolkits will be distributed to club secretaries shortly.
